Effects of high decibel Sound in Womb

The sound environment of the womb is very rich. There are several readings  as to the noise level, ranging between 30 to 96 dB. A whisper can register 30 dB. A normal  conversation is about 60-70 dB. On the other hand, shouted conversations and motorcycles  reach about 100 dB, and a loud rock concert has been measured at 115 dB. Survey conducted by our team reveal more facts about the effects of fireworks during pregnancy. You may want to know if  fireworks scare your unborn child? It all depends on the mother and how she is trained to cope up with this situation. Please read further to get a solution for this problem.

By nature the amniotic fluid (as well as the muscles of the uterus and skin layers, etc…) dampens sound considerably. However research has found that babies start to cry in response to a loud or disruptive noise as early as the 28th week.Research provides data suggesting the devastating effects of  noise on health. The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), National  Institutes of Health (NIH) the National Institute on Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)  and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) have noted that,  because of noise in our society, hearing loss is appearing much earlier in life .

Effect of Sound and Smoke on pregnant women and fetus:

Noise and smoke not only affect you it also affects the fetus in womb

* Increases blood pressure for you during pregnancy and its is high risk to your baby.
* Has negative cardiovascular effects such as changing the way the heart beats for you  and your baby.
* Increases breathing rate and suffocation
* Pregnancy women are already have digestion issues , his will trigger nausea and  digestion issues.
* Can negatively impact a developing fetus, perhaps contributing to premature birth.
* Makes it difficult to sleep, even after the noise stops
* Intensifies the effects of  carbon monoxide

Smoking triggers asthma. Not just tobacco or fireworks smoke but even kitchen fumes, air  pollution, and vehicular exhaust crackers, “agarbatties” or “dhoop” can be triggers. Make  sure there is passage of fresh air and avoid sitting in cramped smoky areas as toxic  smoke doubles an expectant mother’s chance of giving birth to a low-birth-weight infant. The  reason smoking reduces birth weight by 200 grams is unknown. Cigarette smoke or smokes from fireworks or any harmful smoke decreases the  weight and length of a newborn possibly due to the reduced uterine blood flow and oxygen  available during fetal development.

Hormonal Changes during pregnancy and its complications on fetus:

Fireworks induces stress for some pregnancy women.Stress and anxiety triggers an attack in some sensitive mothers. When you perceive  a crisis—-or think of a stressful thought—-your brain secretes corticotrophin-releasing hormone  (CRH). This master stress hormone triggers the release of glucocorticoid stress hormones,  such as cortisol. Stimulated by glucocorticoids and other stress hormones (like adrenaline),  the brain and body shift into crisis mode. Your breathing and pulse quicken, making more  oxygen available to your muscles. Blood sugar levels rise.

For a pregnant woman and her fetus, high cortisol levels pose special risks. Elevated  cortisol is associated with an increased risk of early miscarriage (Nepomaschy et al 2006).  It can also cause preeclampsia (pregnancy-induced hypertension), fetal growth retardation,  premature birth, and postnatal developmental delays (Reis et al 1999; Poggi-Davis and Sandman  2006).

Remedies to protect yourself and your fetus from all these adversities :

To stay stress free and calm during these situations. Yoga and meditation are excellent ways of controlling stress — however make sure you see an experienced instructor who knows antenatal exercises.

Some studies have also suggested that including apples in your diet may lower the risk of  asthma. The fireworks release toxic smoke which may affect the fetus resulting in miscarriage  and negatively affects her unborn child’s life long health.

Pregnant women can celebrate and enjoy the view of fireworks or crackers however  its  advisable to avoid high decibels and inhaling of smoke released from fireworks. To get educated and be prepared get yourself trained on how to cope yourself during these situations at Little Gems.
